Aldmere opens: the Kingsgate
- The border on the Neck is open. Northwatch's guards still stand at their gate, but anyone may walk through it now, north up the Kingsway into Aldmere.
- At the far end of the Neck stands the Kingsgate, Aldmere's toll castle of pale stone: a wall from sea to sea, paladins in polished plate at the gate, and a toll of ten coins going north. Going south is free: Aldmere does not tax the road out.
- A new quest, The King's Writ: the toll clerk will put your name in the gate book, and let you through free for good, if someone of standing vouches for you. On this side of the Neck, that means the Warden of Northwatch.
- Kingsgate has a bank, Gatehelm the helmet shop, the Tollhouse Inn, a chapel and a keep on the knoll. North along the Kingsway, Brindle Cross has a furnace, an anvil and the Brindled Ox. Mind the copse past the crossroads: the highwaymen there keep a toll of their own.
