Aldmere
A region of Aldmere · Foes from level 5 to 30
North over the Neck lies Aldmere, the kingdom that won. It shows: the castles are of fine pale stone, the paladins' shields are polished, and the farms along the river Raven do well enough to complain about the weather instead of the harvest.
King Aldric has sat on the throne since he was a boy and is an old man now. His city, Highcrown, stands on an isle in Highmere, reached by bridges and gates, with the palace, the guilds and more armourers than a city strictly needs.
Travellers come in through the Kingsgate, where there is a toll to pay and a clerk to explain it. The foes here are tougher than on the southern coast: come with some levels and decent gear.
Towns
- Highcrown
The city of Aldmere on its isle in Highmere, reached by bridges and gates. The King lives here, and so do more paladins than one would think strictly necessary.
- Kingsgate
Where the Kingsway runs into Aldmere. Ten coins to come in, nothing to go out, and a clerk by the gate who will explain it at length.
- Ravensford
A town on the river Raven, split in two by the Ford Bridge. The watch keeps the bridge, and the fishermen keep their opinions about the watch.
Villages
- Brindle Cross
A crossroads hamlet in Aldmere with a smithy and an inn, The Brindled Ox.
Landmarks
- Kingsgate Keep
The keep that holds the Kingsgate for the King of Aldmere. The castellan keeps the toll, and the paladins keep the castellan.
- Aldric's Palace
King Aldric's palace in the heart of Highcrown. The paladins at the door have heard every request, and have a rule for each.
- Palace kitchens
The royal kitchens by the palace gate, and a walled garden behind them where a goat is in charge. Smoke from the chimney is normal. Smoke from the door is the cook.
- Brightholm Abbey
Every place links to its page in the wiki: who is there, what they sell and what can be gathered round it.
