The Saltmarch Coast
A region of the Saltmarch · Foes from level 1 to 7
Every new adventurer comes ashore at Dangerhollow, a wreck on the reef behind them, and climbs to Clyffside on the heights above the beach. From there the coast road runs through farms and hamlets to the Port of Falbridge in the west and to the Wayside Inn and Saltcrown in the east.
This is the richest land of the realm and the most peaceful, which House Marlowe would like you to remember is no accident. Saltcrown's Grand Market sells everything at a price a little above fair, under the walls of Castle Marlowe.
The first foes are rats and goblins, the first trees are plain ones, and the first fish are shrimp. It is the right place to learn every skill.
Towns
- Port of Falbridge
House Marlowe's harbour, the busiest on this coast. The stalls sell what the ships bring, and the clerks on the east quay count what is left.
- Saltcrown
House Marlowe's Grand Market, under the walls of Castle Marlowe. Everything is for sale here, at a price a little above fair.
Villages
- Clyffside
A village on the heights above the beach where you came ashore. It has a bank, a shop, a smithy and an inn that has seen worse nights.
- Hayfold
A farming hamlet on the road between Falbridge and Clyffside, with an inn, a smithy and a good deal of hay.
- Cockle Cove
A fishing hamlet on a small bay, with a smokehouse, a fish stall and an inn called The Gutted Herring.
